Well, u can actually find in Brazil other places where u have the Christ in smaller versions besides Rio and also the Statue of Liberty in a place called New York City Center. U can kinda guess… right?

You are wrong, my friend. The leaning tower of Pisa is NOT in Chicago, Illinois. It is in fact in NILES, IL. Get your facts straight! That’s my home town. It’s right next to a YMCA. That street is Touhy Avenue. I will say this, however, it’s about a five minute drive straight down that street to get to Chicago. I also saw the Statue of Liberty in Tokyo, but oddly enough, not the one in Brooklyn.
Give the guy a damned break, 5 minutes outside of chicago? Who the hell has heard of Niles, IL? There’s a reason people sometimes say the name of a nearby major city instead of some random little town nobody’s ever heard of!
To be fair, Chicago proper is literally across the street from the Tower of Pisa. 6235 W Touhy Ave is Chicago but the tower is at 6300 W Touhy Ave. It is VERY close.
Actually the only reason Niles is ACROSS the street from Chicago is because of the way “Chicago” has it’s city limits laid out… The Chicago neighborhood is called Edgebrook and many of the city officials, supervisors, etc. live there because it’s on the edge of Chicago – practically in the suburbs, and away from the gang bangers and other BS… but technically, they’re still living within the City of Chicago, so they can keep their City jobs…
It’s a nice neighborhood – near a forest preserve…
The “leaning tower” is off of Touhy – over by the YMCA, and the “Leaning Tower Ford” car dealership. WW Grainger’s data center is in the vicinity as well…
And if you look at the way Chicago is laid out – “O’Hare” is technically in the city of chicago as well, but that’s bounded by Elk Grove Village, Rosemont, etc… Crazy geographical shit here in IL eh?
Now if the photo had been listed as “Chicagoland, IL” that would have worked for me…
i live close to that leaning tower. when we were studying italy in 4th grade my dad took me to see it and said “the bought it from italy and moved it here”. seeing as how he was my father and he was a professor i was convinced he was right. i went back to class and started convincing people that it was so and i almost got kicked out of class arguing with my teacher. “but my dad said so” didn’t seem to be enough with her. when i came home my dad was cracking up. he got called from my teacher and laughed at her as well. he never let me live it down.
Hell,
Las Vegas had all these monuments before any body else in the world.
Funny how the worlds always copyin’ the USA.
Stupid non American speakin people.
They all need to get a brain!
Morans!
Wow. This is a bit sad in a way… All those folks are copying, but as most kindergarden teachers will say to their students, “Copying means somebody likes your work!”
Seattle’s Alki Beach also has a very small (about 6 foot) version of the statue of liberty.
from http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=445 …
“The Statue of Liberty, a small replica of the original “Liberty Enlightening the World” in New York City, was a gift from Reginald H. Parsons and the Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America in 1952.”
You people saying it’s actually in some place called Niles are being silly. By the sounds of it Niles is a suburb of Chicago. There’s nothing stopping it from being in Niles AND Chicago.
Not many of you would probably know where Richmond, VIC, is. But you would (or you at least should) know where Melbourne is.

The Leaning Tower replica is actually part of a YMCA. It is located in Niles, IL, USA, not Chicago.

@Mark: Shhh… dont rob them of their brief flash of self-importance, lol.
Don’t forget that Nashville has a scale replica of The Parthenon.
What about the eiffel tower in Paris, TX?
yeah, I live in a suburb of Vancouver, BC called Burnaby.
But no one outside of the Vancouver lower mainland knows of burnaby, so I just say I live in Vancouver.

Of course there are Statues of Liberties in Paris, France…. That’s where it CAME from.
You could’ve done the Pyramids and the Luxor in Las Vagas…

that tiny statue of liberty in japan is at a tv studio and was used as a movie prop but it was left there afterwards.
i live close to that leaning tower. when we were studying italy in 4th grade my dad took me to see it and said “the bought it from italy and moved it here”. seeing as how he was my father and he was a professor i was convinced he was right. i went back to class and started convincing people that it was so and i almost got kicked out of class arguing with my teacher. “but my dad said so” didn’t seem to be enough with her. when i came home my dad was cracking up. he got called from my teacher and laughed at her as well. he never let me live it down.
All of these can be found in Japan. They’ve got a little theme park devoted to fake landmarks from over the world.
the leaning tower of pisa is familiar, i live near it. Niles, IL is full of copy-cats
